Eco Friendly Tip: Keep the Lids of Jars
You never know what else you can discover and create with your child!
Teaching your child about Recycling
Reuse a large container to keep lids in for your child. It helps to get your child involved with recycling in your home. You'll be surprised how they start to look for reusable lids in everything. When you're all done with the lid, don't forget to RECYCLE it!

(As with all small items with Children under 3, lids should only used under direct adult supervision. The rule at our house for older siblings is that items that can fit in a toilet paper tube are choking hazards.)

This post made me smile- great pictures and great ideas!
ReplyDeleteThanks Katey! We loved your all your posts this week about using straws and glue too!
DeleteThis is one of those things where I say...now why didnt I think of that!! I hate throwing away those lids but my daughter LOVES those fruit/veggie mixes! Thank you for a wonderful idea!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm sure there are lots of other ideas too and I hope to create some more as we love those organic fruit/veggie mixes too for on the go. You'd be surprised how many Kindergarten Lunch boxes I see with them at school too.
DeleteAwesome! I have lots of lids and very few ideas. These are great. I will do this with my son!
ReplyDeleteThanks Shonda! Keep your eye out, we'll be posting a few more ideas for your son too very soon! Keep them in a big container, trust me he'll love finding lids for you and it leads into great recycling conversations too.
DeleteLove these ideas! I've posted a few times on these pouch lids/caps. Definitely going to add these ideas!! Love the photos!
ReplyDeleteMarnie your guest post today about making letters with lids was great! We're trying that next round! Here's the link if anyone wants to check it out! http://www.rainbowswithinreach.blogspot.com/2012/04/colors-letters-guest-post-from-carrots.html
DeleteWow, you are so creative! I wish I would have saved all the pouch lids from when my daughter was younger. Pinning this great idea! Vicky from Mess For Less
ReplyDeleteThanks Vicky for pinning! I saved them only because of big sister's intereset in them. I was thinking this would be a great sibling craft in school, having bigger kids bring in lids from baby and toddler food containers. What a variety you could collect for a classroom or playgroup. Altought I see lots of Kindergarten lunch boxes with them still. Great way to get in those veggies and fruits.
DeleteLove the pictures. Here is a video of what we did with the lids - created a screw/unscrew shoebox. You can view it here - http://yourtherapysource.com/videolids.html
ReplyDeleteWhat a great tutorial for creating a box for practicing with lids. Thanks for sharing!
DeleteSuch fun ideas! Makes me want to go out and buy all those squeezable pouches in all different colors just to try some of these ideas, all of ours are "milk cap blue" :/
ReplyDeleteAsk around, you never know there may be a friend or neighbor who used them with a small baby and doesn't have the need for them just yet since the pieces are too tiny for babies. We have purple milk caps that are lots of fun to build and paint with too.
DeleteThis is fantastic! I keep throwing these things away thinking they are so pretty and colorful I wish I could think of a use for them. I'm going to start saving them now!
ReplyDeleteSo glad we inspired you, check back we'll be sharing more ideas with lids in the next few weeks as we get ready for Earth Day and Screen Free Week April 30 to May 6!
DeleteI shared this link on my "123 Teach With Me" Facebook Page!! This is such a great idea!!
