“Today you are You, that is truer than true.
There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”
We're joining to celebrate Dr. Seuss's Birthday and NEA's Read Across America Day on Friday, March 2! Here are some of our favorite's from Dr. Suess that we'll be including in our Little Hands that Cook with Books and Dr. Seuss this week.
The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham by Dr Seuss are one of the first BIG books that your child will be able to read all by themselves as they become emergent readers. It's a special moment when they realize they've read it ALL by themselves. What a great way to celebrate than with a special Dr. Seuss inspired Snack.
- Dr. Seuss Cupcakes: Make blue frosting and add cracker fish to the top
- One Fish Two Fish Jello: Make Blue jello and add gummy fish to them
- Make your Own Fish Crackers: Make fish crackers and create your own Seuss Inspired story
- The Cat and the Hat Hat : Attach red lifesaver gummies with white frosting to a round cookie or a rice cake with strawberry slices and cucumber slices or pattern bananas and strawberries to create a hat!
- Lorax Trees: Attach cheese to pretzels sticks
There are so many resources for finding ideas for Dr. Seuss activities for you child. I've done searching for you to find some excellent resources for your child. I've included Snack Ideas and Activity Ideas for your little ones. Hope you enjoy and inspire them to become great thinkers and doers!

Oooh, I am inspired to make something yummy for the kiddos on Friday. Wasn't planning on it, but this post is just too cute Kim!
ReplyDeletePS- wonder what else we can do with this red frame. It is so much fun to take pictures with =)
Thanks so much for stopping by! So glad you like my One Fish, Two Fish Jello! :-) One of the best parts of being a mom is helping out in my child's classroom!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job! Thanks for stopping by here and allowing me to share! We love volunteering in our children's classrooms too.
DeleteWe've also made a Cat in the Hat snack but wanted a healthier version. We used a rice cracker for the base then layered slices of strawberries and peeled cucumbers for the top of the hat. You can see it here

Thanks Maureen for giving us a healthier option, love it!
DeleteI was trying to think of a healthier way and LOVE the rice cracker idea. I may even have a bag of the minis in my pantry. I was thinking about making a fruit parfait like this one http://theeducatorsspinonit.blogspot.com/2012/02/little-hands-that-cook-with-books-dairy.html only layering plain yogurt and strawberries in one of my juice cups, then setting it on a red circle for a cat-in-the-hat breakfast. I enjoy seeing healthy spins on cute food!
DeleteThank you for mentioning my lesson plans! We are loving our activities this week.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Deedee, we love your site and your creativity. I wish my daughter was in a Kindergarten classroom like yours!
