We could spend all day in our garden, but truly enjoy visiting other gardens as well They are a form of family entertainment, exercise, and for getting ideas for expanding our own garden. I have forever wanted to add a labyrinth to our yard, but have succumbed to the fact that we just do not have enough space. A visit to our local botanical gardens reminds me of why I love these paths. The walk is so calming and centering. I really feel that it is important to provide our family with these types of opportunities, so we will have to frequent this one more often! Maybe someday...
These field trips provide such a vocabulary rich experience. Are these flowering vines not the coolest? We reminded my tot to look and not touch. He was so busy pointing out the colors of every flower and running to see the waterfalls! Although I may not have room for a labyrinth, this "deer scarer" may find it's way into our water play area. I have to think about how I could do this, as I do not want water to be running all the time. I'll revisit this idea as our music area gets completed!

And although I love to visit bamboo, it is definitely not my favorite plant. I lean more towards the vegetables and yellow flowers! It is, however, wonderful to listen to when the breeze blows. Such a soft clicking of poles together and rustling of leaves - a garden musical.
Wandering and playing in great gardens comes second only to the beach for my crew.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Amanda for introducing us to our local garden... can't wait to visit the children's area there again and somehow adapt it into our own yard.
